Whether you are looking for ideas and inspiration for a day trip, a weekend away or a family short break, we’ve got plenty to keep you occupied throughout the different seasons and especially in the school holidays, half term breaks and over the bank holiday weekends!
Look out for arts, crafts, activities and family films and theatre performances at our arts centres (Norden Farm Centre for the Arts and The Old Court) and Theatre Royal.
During local school holidays, join Windsor Castle’s free activities for children and families including crafts, storytelling and ‘make and takes’.

Enjoy a day at the races where children aged 17 and under go free of charge with a full-paying adult (some exclusions apply). Look out for special family days throughout the year too with plenty going on for families. Both Ascot and Windsor Racecourses have great firework displays in the autumn too!
If you love nature and the outdoors then discover the natural activity programmes during the school holidays at The Windsor Great Park Environmental Centre, a partnership with the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT). Throughout the school holidays they run a number of family- and child-only based activities such as self-led wildlife trails, seasonal day camps, or guided activities focusing on birds, moths, butterflies and more!
Enjoy free family-friendly town centre events in Windsor and Maidenhead such as the Guard March, Easter trails, pancake racing and Lunar New Year celebrations.
Come Christmas, embrace the festive period with a wide range of seasonal family events which the children will love including pantomime, Windsor Great Park Illuminated and meeting Father Christmas at LaplandUK.
